DevOur Campus Conference

What would a more just, sustainable, and student-powered food system look like?

The DevOur Campus Conference brings together students, community organizers, researchers, and campus food groups to explore food justice, food sovereignty, and the future of food on campus. Through engaging discussions, workshops, and opportunities to connect, we share ideas, celebrate grassroots initiatives, and explore how we can transform our food systems together.

Whether you’re passionate about food justice, involved in a campus food project, or simply curious about making change, DevOur Campus is a space to learn, connect, and get inspired. Come hungry for ideas and leave ready to make a difference!

How it Started

In 2023, the CFC made valuable partnerships to bring food system education and student coalition building to the national level.

In a two-year action research partnership with Professor Jennifer Mitsche of George Brown College, the Communal Lunch Project was launched to build a connected generation of campus food organizers.

We collaborated on a 10 year retrospective of coalition building at Concordia, and the research team at George Brown mapped campus food systems on 23 campuses across Canada.

The goal of the research project was to establish a framework for building food coalitions on campuses across the country.

The goal of DevOur Campus Conferences are to share those frameworks and cultivate strong inter-university relationships toward food system transformation.

Following the successful creation of 5 new food coalitions in the Toronto area and the launch of the National Campus Food Network, we returned to a more territorialized approach. The Concordia Food Coalition hosted a regional edition of DevOur Campus for Québec in August 2026. We are now working on building bilingual relationships with the incredible network of food sovereignty organizations based in French-speaking universities. We have established some key partnerships with Équiterre and the Conseil Système Alimentaire Montréalais to be able to accomplish this.
