Cafe X was a student-run coffee shop and student lounge managed by the Fine Arts Faculty (FASA). Cafe X had 2 locations. VA-229 was the original location. The second location was at EV 7.75. It sold coffee, tea and a selection of pre-made baked goods, chili and other vegan/vegetarian treats. Cafe-X was started in 1983 and closed their doors in 2018 due to financial issues (Source: Erik Chevrier 2022). They never had a commercial grade kitchen. The Hive Cafe Solidarity Co-op provided Cafe-X with burritos and baked goods from 2016 till they closed in 2018.
Cafe-X never had a formal structure, while it ran independently of FASA, they didn’t have any oversight board. They had two General Managers one for each location and about a half dozen stange (Source: Erik Chevrier 2022).
